If re-elected, I will prioritize fiscal responsibility, community safety, economic development, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
I’m running for Monmouth City Council because I believe in building a future where every resident feels heard, safe, and proud to call this city home. As a lifelong member of this community, I’ve seen what thoughtful leadership and collaborative problem-solving can achieve. Through my work on the Budget Committee, I’ve focused on using public resources wisely, supporting community safety, and preparing Monmouth for the challenges ahead. I’m ready to bring a new voice to the Council. One committed to transparency, sustainability, and making sure the decisions we make today keep Monmouth strong for tomorrow.
Oregon law requires cities to adopt a balanced budget. Monmouth cannot spend more than it expects to bring in. This keeps our city financially stable and accountable to the taxpayers.
As Chair of the Monmouth Budget Committee, I’ve worked to ensure every tax dollar is spent wisely by the City. Department leaders are expected to justify their budget requests. And when their plans fall short, I ask the necessary questions to protect public funds.
On City Council, I’ll continue pushing for responsible budgeting and long-term planning. Every project must have a clear purpose, measurable outcomes, and serve the broader good. Fiscal responsibility isn’t just about numbers, it’s about building and keeping the public's trust.
The city's fiscal future is uncertain. With rising costs for materials, services, and staff, maintaining the current service level in the coming years is not guaranteed. However, careful planning and honest conversations will be key to managing for the future.
Safe neighborhoods and reliable infrastructure are essential to our quality of life. Our city must be equipped to respond to emergencies, maintain public spaces, and protect residents of all ages.
While serving on the Budget Committee, I supported the hiring of two full-time police officers and helped restore the full-time status of the Community Service Officer. I also backed investments in public works projects that improved street crossings and made it safer for students to walk to school.
On City Council, I’ll continue to prioritize community safety in both planning and budgeting. I’ll ensure the public safety fee and other utility revenues are used responsibly, and I’ll advocate for the staffing, training, and infrastructure needed to keep Monmouth safe and prepared for the future.
When local businesses thrive, the whole community benefits. Monmouth must partner with small businesses, regional employers, community partners, and educational institutions to build an economy that creates opportunity for everyone.
As a member of the Monmouth Economic Development Advisory Committee, I’ve seen the data and the demand. Our city needs smart planning, modern infrastructure, and targeted strategies for the future.
On City Council, I’ll push to implement the recommendations of the Economic Opportunities Analysis and coordinate with partners to follow proven best practices. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel. The City needs a plan that reflects Monmouth’s unique strengths and keeps our economy growing.
Oregon has a complicated land use system. But the goal of the system is for us to be thoughtful and intentional about how our community grows.
But the fact is that the cost of housing in our region and state overall is out of reach for many. One strategy to address skyrocketing prices is to increase the supply of housing stock. If we want the next generation to build their lives in the City, then there must be enough affordable homes for them to start their lives with.
On City Council, I will examine every housing and land use decision with the next generation in mind. I believe Monmouth can keep its special character and plan for our term-goals.
Good governance starts with open communication from the City and active participation by the community. When the community is informed and involved, decisions are stronger and outcomes more equitable.
I believe in a city government that strives to keep residents informed. A city government where the community can come to ask questions and seek solutions. Whether it’s through public meetings, volunteer opportunities, or timely updates, the city must keep working to reach people where they are—and invite them in. This needs to be a constant exercise as the daily lives of community members change.
Community engagement is a two-way street that takes work from the City and buy-in from the community.
On City Council, I’ll advocate for consistent public outreach, predictable town halls, and communication strategies that reflect the needs of all community members. Your voice should shape Monmouth's future.
A healthy environment supports a healthy community. Monmouth must take action now to protect our landscapes, invest in sustainable infrastructure, and ensure future generations can enjoy the place we call home.
That means supporting renewable energy efforts, keeping our parks and green spaces clean and accessible, and making thoughtful choices about how we build and grow. I believe environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand with economic development and community well-being.
On City Council, I’ll advocate for practical, forward-thinking policies that reduce pollution, improve energy efficiency, and keep Monmouth beautiful and resilient. Protecting our environment isn’t a luxury, it’s a responsibility we all share.
